The European Commission is one of the most demanding
and self-aware translation clients in the
world. The EC selects translation service providers (TSPs) in open
tenders, where 70% of the bid’s relative value
is based on the quality of working methods and quality assurance
procedures, with the price factor accounting for only 30%. Until
2020, the EC worked with its TSPs in a system
of dynamic ranking, set up and constantly updated
as follows: the EC checked the quality of each
translated text and scored it on a scale of
0-10. The TSP with the highest average score at the end of a month
became the contractor of choice for following
month's assignments.
In the years 2008-2020, Invenire won all consecutive tenders
for the Commission’s Polish translation unit,
and for over 10 years it has continuously
topped the dynamic ranking with an average score of 9.6/10 for the
whole period. This is the best score among all
TSPs in the European Union. In 2020, the single preferred supplier
selected in a highly competitive tender replaced the dynamic ranking
system. Doubtless, the preferred supplier of the Polish EC
translation unit was Invenire.
